The city of Dublin, GA is located in Laurens County, approximately 135 miles southeast of Atlanta and 117 miles west of Savannah and the Atlantic Coast. Its closest big city is Macon, GA (population 94,000). Incorporated by the Georgia Assembly in 1812, Dublin was largely settled by Irish immigrants; in fact, the city was named by one of its first citizens—Jonathan Sawyer—in honor of his homeland capital of Dublin, Ireland.
