Where every day is like resort living! Dutch Island - a small coastal community just southeast of Savannah’s business district – affords access to the Wilmington, Herb, and Skidaway Rivers and Gimbal Creek - all under the canopy of the most magnificent sunset views anywhere! The community offers fishing, boating with access to a community dock, tennis and basketball courts, pool, and miles of flat roads perfect for bike riding!
The Isle of Hope is the gateway to Dutch Island, but Dutch Island is a gated community, whereas, Isle of Hope is not. It is a small community of around 500 families many of whom have lived here all their lives. Homes prices range from $400,000-500,000 up to over a million for the estate waterfront lots. Most of the homes are over 3,000 square feet. Many homes are low country ranch style with sweeping lawns and generous mature landscaping. The lots are very large, ranging from a half acre, to estate lots of one to two acres. Although there is some newer construction, most of the homes were built in the 1980’s, but they have been so well-maintained that they are like new. This is such a desirable place to live that some families, as their wealth and families grow, have moved from house to house all within a few miles in the same community!
In the early years of development of Dutch Island you could describe it as being a secluded, hidden gem. But with the construction of the Truman Parkway, Dutch Island is still that secluded, unspoiled natural place of beauty, but now with easy access to historic downtown Savannah and is just minutes away from the shopping malls on the south side. It is a perfect location for medical personnel because of its easy access to the major hospitals – Memorial and St. Joseph’s/Candler.
If you desire an unspoiled, natural setting where the environment is respected, and the community exudes a graceful, southern lifestyle - then you should consider this coastal community of Dutch Island.
