About Peachtree City Georgia

Peachtree City, Georgia, was chartered in 1959 and was among the first planned cities in the United States. The city is divided into four separate villages (Aberdeen, Kedron, Glenloch, and Braelinn). This creative setup allows the city to maintain its small-town atmosphere while offering all the necessary amenities.

What later became Peachtree City was first populated 2,000 years about by Woodland Era Indians. The Scottish village names are in honor of William McIntosh, Jr., who was of mixed Scottish-Creek Indian ancestry and became Chief of the Lower Creek Indian Tribes. The creative naming of villages is just one way that Peachtree City pays homage to history while looking toward the future.

When the city was first planned, it allowed for a population between 70,000 and 80,000. In the 1970s this was revised, making the maximum population less than 50,000. Today this number is closer to 40,000. The planning of the city was made with the long-term benefit of residents in mind, hence the cap on the population.

Peachtree City features an excellent educational system, a state-of-the-art tennis center, and indoor swimming complex, and three golf courses. Plus, these top-notch facilities are easily available via the city's elaborate cart trail system, which is suitable for golf carts, bikes, and pedestrian traffic. In addition, the close proximity to Atlanta makes available all the sporting, cultural, and entertainment options that residents could wish for.
