Savannah, Georgia is located on the Georgia Coast, directly on the Intracoastal Waterway. Due to its location near the coast, it boasts milder winter and summer temperatures than most of Georgia. Savannah, known as the “Hostess City of the South,” was founded along with the Colonial State of Georgia when General James Oglethorpe landed here in 1733. About six million tourists visit Savannah every year, drawing more tourists that any other place in the entire State of Georgia. Visitors come to see the impressive historic architecture, the spooky cemeteries, and hear the stories of the resonant past. Savannah is home to a swanky night life, eclectic restaurants and an enormous Saint Patrick’s Day Celebration.
Savannah is the home of Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation ( a General Dynamics Company, engineer/builder of the G650), SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design), Hunter Army Airfield, Port of Savannah (the fifth largest in the country), JCB Incorporated and a considerable healthcare system with 3 hospitals.
Savannah is comprised many diverse neighborhoods. There are a number of high end golf communities like The Landings, Westbrook at Savannah Quarters and Southbridge. If you are looking for more urban living, then Historic downtown or the Victorian District is the place for you. Historic architecture, beautiful squares and incredible shopping and restaurants are around every corner. If you want a slightly slower pace of life, and want a more suburban feel, you should look at Ardsley Park, Isle of Hope, and Parkside. All are very friendly neighborhoods with a real family feel. But, if you are interested in coastal living, then you should check out Wilmington Island, Talahi Island, Isle of Hope, Dutch Island and Tybee Island.
