Just the mention of the name conjures up a distant island in the middle of the Pacific with a hammock between two palm trees, a warm breeze making the hammock sway softly as one sips on a cool coconut concocted beverage, basking in a cloudless atmosphere under a warm sunny sky. While this moment in time seems endless; the scene is created not in the South Pacific, but right here on the East Coast of the United States.
Talahi Island is a part of Savannah, Georgia; it is the Northern most portion of Wilmington Island. Talahi is bordered by US Highway 80 on the South with The Bull River and Turner’s Creek on the North. Its location is strategically positioned between the Urban Downtown area of Savannah and the ocean waves on Tybee Island. Just 10 minutes in either direction, makes Talahi Island an excellent selection for those who want to be within a short distance of these two major attractions.
Talahi Island is thirteen feet above sea level; the Island is 1.5 miles wide by just a tad less than 1 mile deep. For boaters, the Bull River provides easy access to the Atlantic Intercostals Waterway, the Savannah River, and the Atlantic Ocean, including many inner passages to the Southeast portion of Chatham County.
In recent years, Talahi Island homes have sold from as low as $145,000.00 up to $1,500,000.00 or more. Regardless of what price the home, there is still the community feeling of Island living.
So slip into your favorite sandals, put on a pair of your best Bermuda shorts, top it off with an outrageously Island styled shirt and become a part of Island living without ever having to leave the United States.
