Warner Robins, Georgia Community Overview

Warner Robins, GA, the 9th largest city in Georgia is also known as the “International City” due to its proximity to Robins Air Force Base and the cultural diversity of the people. The Air Force originally was attracted to the area during WWII and at the urging of the first commander, Colonel Thomas, changed the name from Wellston to Warner Robins in honor of Brigadier General Augustine Warner Robins. As a direct result of the Korean conflict, Robins Air Force Base was established and is now Georgia’s largest single industry. Robins Air Force Base employs more than 27,000 civilian service workers, military members, contractors and non-appropriated fund employees. Peripheral services that serve these personnel are roughly calculated at an additional 36,000 + jobs. There are approximately 2,000 retail businesses within the city limits of Warner Robins.
