The Community of Garden City, GA

Looking for an excellent option to living in the city of Savannah proper? Looking for a smaller community that is not singing the economic blues and is looking towards its future yet is proud of its history and is just a stone’s throw from Savannah? Garden City may just be that alternative solution!

Located just west of the city of Savannah along the East/West I-16 and North/South I-95 corridors, Garden City has ideal logistics. With a convenient commute to downtown Savannah and Hunter Army Airfield, situated in the heart of Chatham County and one of the leading municipalities in Coastal Georgia, Garden City is sure to please!

Garden City stands amid a variety of fast growing commercial and industrial developments and hosts the Port of Savannah which is the flagship operation of the Georgia Ports Authority. With a population of a little over 10,000, Garden City is Chatham County’s second-largest municipality. Its friendly residential areas serve as home to much of the work force of industries much like Bloomingdale, Pooler, and Port Wentworth.

Garden City, GA does not stop there! In January of 2009, the city took a great step by breaking ground to create a new 40 acre mixed-use Town Center Project that will be home to a new city hall, a new regional police academy, and a new visitors center in the relocated Dotson House, Garden City’s oldest home dating back to the late eighteenth century and formerly the overseer’s home at historic Brompton Plantation. At build-out, the site will accommodate over 800,000 square feet of commercial, residential, and retail development. It will serve as the heart and soul of downtown Garden City and will provide a new modern gateway to historic Savannah.

So whether you are looking to reside in one of the city’s more established neighborhoods or find your home in one of the new phases of the city’s growth, Garden City offers you plenty of options!
