Welcome to Grants Pass, OR

Named to celebrate General Grant’s success at Vicksburg, Grants Pass was originally a mining town at the end of the railroad line. It became the Josephine County Seat in 1885, and then, similar to many Oregon towns, logging became the leading industry. Currently Grants Pass and Josephine County have a diversified economy with no one industry dominating employment.

Grants Pass is full of recreational opportunities and with lots of sun and four temperate seasons there is plenty of time to take advantage of them all.

The Rogue River is the heart of the area and runs through the middle of town. The river offers everything from jet boat tours, world-class fly fishing and raft trips. Spend 3-4 four days rafting or drift boat fishing through the 85 mile long wild and scenic section of the Rogue River. .

There is skiing close by at Mt. Ashland and plenty of hiking available in the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest. Crater Lake is only a short distance away, as are the annual Britt music festival in Jacksonville and the world-renowned Shakespeare Festival in Ashland. And, as the area boasts more than 50 wineries in Southern Oregon, there is plenty to keep you busy.
