Welcome to Greentown, PA

Greentown, PA is situated in the scenic Pocono Mountains in the northeast part of the state, just 25 miles east of Scranton. As one of Pike County’s tranquil and historic communities, Greentown is a highly desirable relocation destination for its treasured natural neighbors—Lake Wallenpaupack and the Promised Lands State Park—both of which offer inspiring views and an abundance of year-round outdoor recreation. Lake Wallenpaupack, built in 1927 by the Pennsylvania Power & Light Company, boasts 52 miles of shoreline that provide the perfect backdrop for swimming, boating, water-skiing, and fishing, while the Promised Lands State Park offers two smaller lakes, plus 50 miles of hiking trails and equestrian trails. Within an hours’ drive of Greentown is one of Pennsylvania’s most stunning natural wonders—Bushkill Falls, the “Niagara of Pennsylvania,” a breathtaking cascade of eight waterfalls near the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. And of course, Greentown residents have great access to Poconos winter sports, including skiing in the Poconos, plus snowboarding, tubing, ice skating and fishing.

Aside from its appeal to outdoor enthusiasts, Greentown is well-loved by those looking for a little peace and quiet, a true haven from the nation’s bustling urban centers. Greentown, population of around 4,500, has successfully resisted commercial over-development, and the community proudly supports a variety of locally owned shops, grocers, drugstores, and restaurants. And yet, Greentown residents interested in shopping and dining at big name retail stores and restaurants enjoy just a half hour drive to Scranton, home to the Mall at Steamtown, Viewmont Mall, and other retail centers. Greentown is also a great place to raise children, offering some of the best schools in the state through two districts—the Wallenpaupack Area School District and the Delaware Valley School District.
