About Honolulu, Hawaii

Honolulu is the capital of Hawaii and comprises the whole of the island of Oahu. It has a population of almost a million people, which makes it a city of substantial proportions and opportunities.

While some short term visitors prefer the beaches of Maui, the quiet beauty of the Big Island of Hawaii or the verdant geography of Kauai, long term residents prefer the quality of medical care, as well as the myriad of cultural and shopping opportunities, in Honolulu. The outer islands are quieter, while Honolulu buzzes with the activities associated with a cosmopolitan city.

Honolulu boasts a symphony and opera season, along with the multi-cultural events such as Japanese Bon dancing, Hawaiian fairs and parades honoring historic royalty, Chinese dragon dances, international film festivals and, most importantly, the variety of food and blending of cultures unique in the world’s “melting pot” of cultures. Where else would you find Korean Soap operas rivaling network television programs or “shaved ice” as a treat on a hot day? Art museums and academies reside in buildings created by recognized architects, while Pearl Harbor provides a backdrop for the economic forces that shaped history.

But the fact is that Honolulu is one of the safest, healthiest, most accepting of places to live. Besides the low crime rate, there are no snakes or substantial animal predators on the island. The mild climate, clean air and drinking water are incomparable benefits to the well being of Honolulu’s residents. Walking, jogging, biking, water sports and other endeavors are easy to do on a regular basis, given the predictable beauty of the weather and cooling tradewinds. And, yes, we are proud that the current President of the United States learned from the milieu of Honolulu’s residents.

There simply is no better place in the world to live.
