Welcome to Waikoloa, HI

Waikoloa is located in Hawaii County in the northwest portion of the Big Island, stretching over ten miles inland from the gorgeous Kohala Coast. Having the best of everything—sparkling sunny beaches, lush vegetation, sprawling open ranchland, and perfect weather all upon the foothills of the Mauna Kea—Waikoloa attracts those who can’t decide what they love most about Hawaii. With a population of over 6,000, Waikoloa Village itself is a self-sufficient community that includes its own post office, markets, specialty stores, and banks, as well as the Waikoloa Elementary School for grades K-5. The village also boasts the Waikoloa Village Golf Course—a 6,791-yard par-72 course designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. that blends the joy of the game with the tranquil natural beauty of Waikoloa.

For even more variety, residents of Waikoloa can enjoy the many amenities provided by the Waikoloa Beach Resort. The resort offers exciting outdoor recreation that ranges from beach lounging and whale watching to sailing and deep sea fishing, and its historic royal fishponds and conservation area provide great scenery for an afternoon picnic or an evening stroll. On site are two highly acclaimed golf courses—the par-70 Beach Course, designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., and the par-72 Kings’ Course, designed by Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish. Waikoloa Beach Resort also has its own commercial and cultural center at the Kings’ Shops, where residents can dine in a variety of casual and fine restaurants, shop in upscale boutiques, and enjoy Hawaiian culture at its finest. Construction is underway for the anticipated Waikoloa Queens’ Marketplace, which will feature 28 acres of retail shops, dining, and entertainment, as well as the Waikoloa Cultural Gardens and the Queens’ Gardens, a performance arts venue.
