Hoover not only harbors one of the biggest shopping areas in the southeast, Riverchase Galleria, also known as the most visited tourist attraction in the state of Alabama, but holds the home field of the minor-league baseball team, the Birmingham Barons, and represents a fine business community offering major companies such as Blue Cross, BE&K, BellSouth, and AmSouth Bank.
Since it was incorporated as a city in only 1967, Hoover is a very young city. Originally founded by William H. Hoover moved his offices to the Hoover Community area in order to provide more space to build homes for his employees.
