About Glenview, Illinois

Glenview is an excellent place to be any way you look at it. It is a great place to live, raise a family and do business. Glenview has been known by a number of names, including North Branch and Oak Glen, but it was ultimately the train station that was built in 1878 that determined the name Glenview. At that time the train already had an Oak Glen stop so they ultimately ended up changing the name to Glenview, which is the name under which the city has grown most prosperously. Today the village of Glenview is thriving. Big business such as Zenith Electronics and Kraft Foods call it home, creating employment for many of the Glenview residents.

Glenview is also known for its beautiful residential areas as well as its first-rate school system. Glenview's high school, middle school, and elementary school have all won excellence awards from the Department of Education, making it a parent's dream location. The residential areas in the village are also highly desirable. There are condos and homes in every price range and in every type of setting. The downtown area has created an upscale, yet cozy environment while other parts of town take advantage of the more than 1,000 acres of forest preserve backdrop. Glenview is a very diverse village that suits the needs of more than 42,000 residents.
