About Oak Forest, Illinois

With a population of 28,051 as of 2000 and ongoing commercial and industrial developments, Oak Forest lays claim as one of the fastest growing cites southwest of Chicago. There is a Metra rail station right in the community, so commuters enjoy an easy trip to and from downtown. In addition to the Metra, Oak Forest is also close to three major expressways for equally simple downtown access.

There are a number of housing options within Oak Forest, ranging from condos to townhomes to an array of single-family houses. Single-family homes sell, on average, at about $212,000. In addition to these residences, the city itself offers golf courses and a well-traveled walking and biking trail. Oak Forest also enjoys forest preserves, giving this bustling little city an additional, more relaxing, atmosphere.
