Welcome to Bloomingdale, IN

Bloomingdale is a town in Parke County, Indiana, located 64 miles east of Indianapolis. First named “Bloomfield,” Bloomingdale was founded in 1825. William Pickard and his son John were the first residents, and set up the first drug store in a log building just south of where the present town is located. Today Bloomingdale remains a small settlement, with approximately 320 residents.

Residents of Bloomingdale enjoy all of Parke County relaxing scenic roads, historic sites and friendly communities. Parke County is the “Covered Bridge Capital of the World” with more than 30 covered bridges throughout the county that contribute to the region’s quaint countryside setting. Since 1957, Bloomingdale and its neighboring towns and villages participate in a countywide festival, the Parke County Covered Bridge Festival. Every year from October 10th to the 19th, Parke County residents and visitors enjoy shopping, eating and family events provided by 9 communities throughout the county.
