About Mooresville, Indiana

Mooresville, Indiana was named after Samuel Moore, a North Carolina Quaker who in 1824 chose the location in the delta of the east and west forks of White Lick Creek due to the fertile ground and available water to power mills. It is located 10 miles southwest of Indianapolis' downtown area and homes are generally between $80,000 and $190,000. There is a diversity of housing in Mooresville, from stately older homes close to downtown to more modern homes in suburban settings. It is also an affordable area, with home prices well below the national average.

The Indiana state flag was created in Mooresville by artist Paul Hadley, a watercolorist and Mooresville resident. The town of Mooresville has since adopted the slogan, “Home of the Indiana State Flag.” The town's agricultural-based heritage and Midwestern values have helped develop a productive work environment, which residents boast as another of the area's unique characteristics. A private country club with a 9-hole golf course is nearby, as are bowling, swimming, tennis and skydiving facilities. Morgan-Monroe State Forest, which features camping and hiking facilities, is just a short drive from Mooresville.
