Greenfield, Indiana is located 20 miles east of downtown Indianapolis and is quickly becoming a welcoming area for the construction of new homes, with prices ranging from $90,000 to $175,000.The town began growing rapidly in 1887 when natural gas was discovered in the area. James Whitcomb Riley, known as the “Hoosier Poet”, was born in Greenfield in 1849 and described it as “the best home outside of heaven.” The James Whitcomb Riley Museum Home was established in his honor and is just one of the many local attractions.
