Welcome to Lawrenceburg, IN

The county seat of Dearborn County, Lawrenceburg has been reinvigorated with the opening of Argosy Casino, which brings nearly 8 million visitors a year. Benefits from gambling enable the city to do renovations in both the city’s east side and downtown, where a large portion of buildings and businesses are on the National Register of Historic Places. There are two main residential areas: the older homes section of Lawrenceburg and the newer construction in Ludlow Hill. Lawrenceburg is home to the Perfect North Slopes ski area and Dearborn County Hospital; also to the 177-acre distillery Joseph E. Seagram & Sons now owned by a holding company, Lawrenceburg Distillers Indiana. The city boasts numerous festivals and special events, including Fourth of July Firecracker Festival, River City Classics Car Show, Roar of Thunder Regatta and Farmers Fair (it’s the oldest street festival in the state of Indiana). On the Dearborn Trail, Lawrenceburg’s portion begins at the city’s western limits and runs 1.7 miles. The community’s convenient access to I-275 makes this an easy commute to the airport and to growing commercial areas in western Northern Kentucky. It was founded in 1802 by Samuel Vance, commander of U.S. troops at Cincinnati’s Fort Washington. Vance named the city after his wife’s maiden name, Lawrence.
