Welcome to Indian Head Park, ILThe village of Indian Head Park is located in Cook County, IL, just 20 miles southwest of downtown Chicago. Conceptualized in the 1940’s and plotted on the site of a golf course, Indian Head Park was given its name in reference to the many arrowheads left there by the Potawatomi Indians that originally inhabited the area. After a half century of development, the village remains a quiet, wooded residential community of approximately 4,000 residents. Indian Head Park boasts peaceful tree-lined streets, well-kept homes, and a small-town atmosphere that is a rarity in such a major metropolis. A great environment for growing families, Indian Head Park is served by excellent schools through the LaGrange Highlands School District 106, the Pleasantdale School District 107, and Lyons Township High School District 204. The village offers three spacious parks, sports facilities, and an ice rink for family recreation; plus, the 9-hole, par 33 Flagg Creek Golf Course is just five minutes away in the neighboring village of Countryside. The village is also home to the Indian Head Park Heritage Center, which serves as a historical landmark for the village, as well as a cultural gathering place and a place of research with a library for public use. For an abundance of theater venues, art galleries, world-class shopping, and a myriad of restaurants, the residents of Indian Head Park enjoy the convenience of all the Chicago attractions and entertainment right outside their front doors.
