Alexandria, KY - A Growing Area

One of two county seats in Campbell County, Alexandria, Kentucky has become one of the county’s fastest-growing areas with the completion of the AA Highway, which cuts across Northern Kentucky. Residential subdivisions are sprouting all over the area. In 2006, Ridgewood Valley, off the AA Highway and Grandview Road, began building homes and expect to construct 150. Summer Lake Subdivision, being developed by Fischer Homes, will add 199. There’s also the 916-home development, Arcadia, planned on East Alexandria Pike. Currently, housing options range from vintage, picturesque farms to new construction in subdivisions. Many homes feature large, wooded lots, and there is still much acreage left for future development. Shopping is conveniently close at Alexandria Village Green Shopping Center and the proposed $10-million Gateway Crossing with 20,000 square feet of retail, to open in 2009. For recreation, there’s the A.J. Jolly County Park, which offers golf, camping and swimming. Alexandria’s Community Park has a pavilion, walking trail and playground equipment. Bishop Brossart High School, a coed Catholic school, and Campbell County High School, the only high school operated by the Campbell County Public School District, are here; also Charles E. McCormick Technology Center, which offers vocational education. Alexandria, KY was founded in 1793 by Frank Spillman, who came from Alexandria, Virginia; it was incorporated in 1834.
