Bellevue, KY - A Wonderful Place to Call HomeBellevue, Kentucky was established in 1870; the community was named after a revolutionary hero James Taylor’s Virginia farm. It was incorporated as a city in 1870. At the turn of the century, the city was known for its beaches; unfortunately, most closed in the 20s. Recognized recently is its Bellevue Beach Park, voted a top 5 park by Channel 5 viewers. An attractive feature of the city is its riverfront location, which is currently being developed and its historic homes being restored. A Renaissance Committee is charged to promote revitalization activities on Fairfield Avenue, its designated renaissance area. There are restaurants, antique and arts & crafts stores (including Hilde’s Galley, which features paintings of popular figures and places on cardboard, metal and canvas). Martha Jeanne’s, an eclectic breakfast/ lunch spot, is here. It is home to Christopher Bed & Breakfast, once the Bellevue Christian Church founded in 1889. Affordable homes and newer condominiums and a short commute to downtown Cincinnati make Bellevue a popular choice with singles, first-time homebuyers and middle-income families. Currently, 35 condos are being constructed as part of the $140-million Harbor Greene development. Spring 2008, begins development of the commercial aspect, a four-story retail office.
