Crescent Springs, KY – A Growing City

It’s happy 50th for Crescent Springs, once a sleepy farming community. Though established only in 1957, its history goes back to the early 1800s when Revolutionary War veterans supposedly carved farms out of the wilderness, which led to the creation of what would become known as Crescent Springs. Where the community got its name? The name “Crescent” refers to the crescent the railroad tracks made as they passed through town and possibly from the name Queen & Crescent Railroad. And Springs? There are springs in the general area of the railroad tracks, thus the name Crescent Springs. The town has seen tremendous growth in the past decade. Quick interstate access makes this neighborhood a convenient commute to downtown Cincinnati, the airport, riverfront attractions, and shopping at Florence Mall and Crestview Hills Town Center. Its Buttermilk Towne Center, a $56-million, 300,000-square-foot facility on more than 46 acres along Anderson Road, features a Home Depot, Remke’s Market, Ashley Furniture, and Verizon Wireless. Crescent Springs Community Park offers a large playground, shelter, basketball court and a commons area for quiet and peaceful reflections. Its 11-acre Crescent Springs Memorial Park at Buttermilk Pike and Collins Road offers 1.3 miles of trails, a play area and the only free-standing swinging bridge in Northern Kentucky. Dining places include Bonefish Grill, Tumbleweed, China Dragon, Guru India, Chipotle Mexican Grill and Bob Evans.
