Welcome to Franklin, KY

Simpson County is one of the smallest counties in Kentucky, yet because of it's placement on I-65 on the KY-TN border, it's widely known by travelers. The county got its name from Captain John Simpson who was an officer who fought and died in the Battle of the River Raisin in the War of 1812. Franklin was actually named after Benjamin Franklin.

Franklin, KY is also known for its all-turf flat racing thoroughbred track, Kentucky Downs Race Course. Live racing occurs every September with simulcast from other tracks across the country over 300 days a year. You can book private parities in one of the banquet rooms or dine at the on-site restaurant.

Another tourist attraction is Kenny Perry's Country Creek Golf Course which was designed by Kenny Perry himself. This par 72 18 hole public course can be played every day of the week with t-times only necessary on weekends. Features include a practice range, pro shop, clubhouse and rentals for carts and clubs.
