Louisville Kentucky Real Estate

If you're considering relocation to Louisville, Kentucky, you have cause for celebration. You'll be moving to one of the most livable areas in the United States, with a moderate climate, unsurpassed natural beauty, a rich historical legacy and a lively culture. Employment opportunities are plentiful, and the city is so centrally located that you can reach 60 percent of the major cities in the continental U.S. in one day's travel or less.

The Jefferson County Public School system is the 28th-largest district in the country and was recently named as one of the top five urban school districts. There are a great number of excellent private schools, as well. Catholic schools are the majority, but there is also the greatest concentration of Protestant schools in America.

Housing options are abundant and diverse. You can live in a peaceful rural area, a convenient suburban neighborhood, or in a dynamic urban district. With all that Louisville has to offer, you'd think it would be an expensive place to live, but you'd be mistaken.

The cost of living in Louisville is consistently lower than the national average, and the affordability of housing is an important element in that. In the fourth quarter of 2004, for instance, the average price for a new 2,400-square-foot home was less than $230,000. That's more than 15 percent below the national average. In Louisville, you can live in an above-average city for a below-average price!
