Osceola County - The "Real Florida"

Beyond the neon glow and the fast paced action of the resort attraction area located in the west side of Kissimmee, is a place many refer to as the “real Florida.” Osceola County is a chance to visit the natural Florida much as it existed centuries ago. Unspoiled prairie lands and sandy ridges, dotted with many lakes and very few towns, still characterize more than 90 percent of the county. Avid birdwatchers, sport fishermen, hikers and families out for a relaxing day in the peaceful outdoors will find their choice of fun in Osceola County.

The northernmost part of the county, in the lively Kissimmee area, provides quite a contrast. Florida's major tourist attractions are clustered in south Orange County, just across Osceola County's northern border, bringing tremendous growth to Kissimmee and St. Cloud. Tourism has become a major force, and now banking and light industry are making their marks. Many planned communities, complete with their own business districts, schools, health care and recreational facilities, are quickly making their appearance.
