Westbank Jefferson Parish in Marrero, LA

Located just minutes away from the New Orleans central business district, the Westbank offers a wealth of choices in entertainment, ranging from casinos to family swamp tours. In Jean Lafitte National Park, Barataria Preserve, visitors can walk on open trails through bottomland hardwood forests, swamps and marsh amongst alligators, great blue herons, and Louisiana blue iris. You can also either go canoeing or fish along the Twin Canals Trail. Waterways for both saltwater and freshwater fishing and boating are numerous. If you prefer a good round of golf, you can tee off at the 250 acre TPC golf course which will host the 2010 Zurich Open. The Harvey/Marrero area is home to one of the newer upscale shopping areas with designer shops and waterside restaurants.

Residents have multiple private and parochial schools in addition to the public school system, 2 hospitals, as well as the Alario Center, a sporting and special event facility. Jefferson Parish operates several playgrounds with athletic programs for children and adults. Residents can visit several outdoor seafood and produce markets on the weekends or view local artistic works at the Gretna Art Walk. The towns of Westwego, Gretna and Jean Lafitte have historic areas with museums and local festivals for leisure hours. Easy access to greater New Orleans allows westbank residents to take full advantage of all events and benefits of the historic downtown area while having a more relaxed residential life.
