Entertainment in Lake Lanier, GA

Lake Lanier is so vast that it borders a total of five counties—Hall, Forsyth, Dawson, Gwinnett, and Lumpkin—and dotting its banks is a collection of unique communities that offer high quality of life, excellent education, and fun attractions. Gainesville, the seat of Hall County located on Lake Lanier’s northeastern banks, is the largest of these communities with a population of over 33,000. Home to Gainesville State College and Brenau University, Gainesville is an educational and cultural hub of the region, boasting multiple art galleries, theatre venues, and performance arts groups, such as the Gainesville Symphony Orchestra and the Gainesville Ballet Company. Other towns and cities on Lake Lanier include Lula, Murrayville, Cumming, Buford, Flowery Branch, Oakwood, Dahlonega, and Dawsonville. Each of these communities has something special to offer—from Lula’s annual Railroad Days festival to Buford’s Mall of Georgia and Dahlonega’s sophisticated wineries. And during every holiday season, Lake Lanier residents gather to enjoy Lake Lanier Islands Resorts’ Magical Nights of Lights—one of the world’s largest light shows featuring over six miles of holiday decorations, a winter village, carnival rides, nativity, and more. Transportation between the communities of Lake Lanier is simple; Lake Lanier has a convenient road network that links to Hwy 400, I-85 and I-985, all of which connect to Atlanta with a commute time of one hour or less.
