Layton, Utah is a wonderful place to live and visit! Whatever your mood may be, you’ll find it here in Layton. Layton City is part of the Davis County School District, which contains twelve elementary schools, two junior high schools and three high schools.

Layton is located between Salt Lake City and Ogden city, and sits around 4,350 ft above sea level. It is about a 20 minute commute to down town Salt Lake City and about 15 minutes to Ogden City. If you don’t feel like driving, the commuter rail (Front Runner) conveniently has a stop right in Layton. The Front Runner also includes wireless internet available for a more pleasant ride.

Layton was named after Christopher Layton and was settled in the 1850’s. It became an incorporated city in 1920. Its population up to 1940 only had about 600 residents. Hill Air Force Base was created in 1940 and brought with it a lot of growth. In 1985, Layton was thought of one of the most popular cities in Davis County.
