About Livermore, California

Livermore, a quiet community on Interstate 580 and just north of Pleasanton, is a town that blends rural and suburban character. Livermore, California is in an area sometimes referred to as the “Alameda Wine County” due to the presence of over 16 wineries. Here, you will find a relaxed lifestyle surrounded by vineyards and golden hillsides.

Major employers in Livermore include the Lawrence Livermore National Lab and the Sandia National Lab. Both are home to some of the top scientists in the country. On the eastern edge of Livermore is the Altamont Pass where windmill farms generate alternative power supplies.

To accommodate new residential developments, retail activity has accelerated in recent years, particularly along the Interstate 580 corridor. Housing in the area begins with the older bungalows found in the downtown area and expands to typical suburban homes on tree-lined streets. As the area has grown so have the homes, and now custom homes and estates are commonplace.
