Welcome to Lombard, IllinoisCalled the “Lilac Village” for its annual profusion of springtime flowers, Lombard is located approximately 20 miles west of Chicago. The Lilac Festival started with the donation by town’s founder, Colonel Plum, of his estate grounds as “Lilacia Park.” The Colonel had an extensive Lilac collection that is today the community symbol. This extensive collection of Lilacs is managed by the Lombard Park District, which features a huge display of lilacs, tulips and flowering shrubs and is an annual springtime treat at Lilacia Park in late April through May. Lilacia Park has detailed landscapes with walking paths, excellent views and the wonderful aroma of blooming Lilacs in a springtime spectacular every year right in the heart of downtown Lombard.
Lombard has over 42,000 residents and a varied housing stock from turn-of-the-century Victorians to Luxury Condos. The average price for a 4 Bedroom single family in 2008 was $385,000 and a 3 Bedroom 2 Bath house averaged $267,000. Lombard homes offer an excellent value with the convenience of transportation, and quality of the community schools and services. Large trees shade the mature neighborhoods, and the park system boasts the most acres of park property per capita in Illinois.
There has been much new development around the Yorktown Shopping Center with the addition of the Westin Hotel and Convention Center in 2007. It features a Harry Caray’s Steakhouse as well as the 5 Star Hotel and meeting rooms. The Restaurants around Yorktown feature every variety of gourmet dining experience from Sushi to Country French, with Brewery, Pub, Bar-B-Que, and Family Style Italian thrown in for good measure. The Restaurant scene around the Southern End of Lombard has become one of the most extensive in the Chicago Area. | More Local Area InformationJust 18 miles west of Chicago, Lombard is a haven for nature lovers who want to experience quiet village life within close proximity to one of th...
