Welcome to Loretto, MNThe city of Loretto is located in Hennepin County, Minnesota, just 25 miles east of Minneapolis. Originally founded in 1886 by German and Dutch immigrants, the city was named after several important Catholic locations; The Lorette Roman Catholic mission in Quebec, Canada, the village of Loretto, KY, home of the “Sisters of Loretto at the Foot of the Cross,” and Loreto, Italy, which holds a shrine of pilgrimage. Today, over 120 years later, Loretto, MN remains a small but vibrant community of over 600 residents who enjoy a high quality of life and convenient access to all the attractions of one of the nation’s foremost metropolitan areas. Loretto is served by Delano School District #879—boasting the National Blue Ribbon award-winning Delano Middle School—as well as one private Catholic school, the Academy of Saints Peter and Paul. Graduates and adults of Loretto have easy access to many of Minneapolis’ colleges and universities, including the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, Minneapolis College of Art and Design, North Hennepin Community College, and more.
