Boxborough is known for its Fifer’s Day celebration each June. The day commemorates Luther Blanchard, the fifer who led local minutemen to the Battle of the North Bridge, in Concord on April 19, 1775. Banchard died of his wounds from that battle and became one of the first casualties of the American Revolution. Boxborough hosts a parade, fair, and contests for young and old each Fifer’s Day.
