About Boxborough, MA

Boxborough, MA is a quiet, country town located west of Boston, near Acton and Harvard. It’s notable for its rolling fields, pristine woodlands, and comfortable farm houses and newer-built Colonials set on large lots.

While most of Boxborough is quietly residential and home to small businesses, its tax base and employment options benefit from high-tech development along Route 495. The town is also commuting distance to Boston and Cambridge, with commuter rail access in nearby South Acton. Ample shopping opportunities are also found in Acton.

Boxborough is part of the Acton/Boxborough Regional School District. The town has its own elementary school. Junior-high and high-school students attend school in neighboring Acton. The Acton/Boxborough schools are highly rated in the state.

Boxborough is known for its Fifer’s Day celebration each June. The day commemorates Luther Blanchard, the fifer who led local minutemen to the Battle of the North Bridge, in Concord on April 19, 1775. Banchard died of his wounds from that battle and became one of the first casualties of the American Revolution. Boxborough hosts a parade, fair, and contests for young and old each Fifer’s Day.

Boxborough is a pleasant, quiet community that maintains its rural character while benefiting from nearby Metro West development.
