Falmouth is the home of Katherine Lee Bates, author of “America the Beautiful”, the center of discovery of the HMS Titanic and world renowned Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, and the national headquarters of the International Wildlife Coalition. There are many annual events held in the Falmouth area, including Maritime Days, Barnstable Country Fair, Falmouth Commodores baseball games, 4th of July Fireworks, the Road Race, and the region's largest Holiday Parade held on the 1st Sunday of December.
