Welcome to Northborough, MA

Northborough is a suburban community which offers classic New England charm while providing access to educational opportunities. Together with a mix of retail and restaurants, a selection of housing options within a stable business environment exists. This town was incorporated in 1766 and has become a full fledged town. The early churches of Massachusetts, called “meeting houses,” were the center of all town activity.

Open town meeting government now operates under its own home rule charter. The governing body includes five elected members of the town’s select board and the town meeting membership of registered voters. The official offices of the town have moved many times, from the first church to the second church vestry to the Old Town House to the ‘old’ Town Hall (which merited a listing from the National Park Service as a Historical Architectural Monument) to the new Town Hall, which is the old Northborough High School – built in the 1930’s.

Today, Northborough is host to a burgeoning research and development-oriented industrial park. However, the town is primarily a residential community. Northborough is centrally located and close proximity to #495, #290 and #90 (Mass. Pike), bordered by Berlin, Westborough, Marlborough, Southborough, Boylston and Shrewsbury. It is 10 miles from Worcester and 30 miles west of Boston.
