Welcome To Wakefield, MA

Wakefield is a wonderful community, just 10 miles northeast of Boston. The housing market is brisk, with many new families and single professionals buying homes in the community. Development is still strong with several exciting and beautiful projects in various stages of completion.

Wakefield has a population of just under 25,000. The town has four elementary schools, a middle school, and high school, as well as an extended day program for elementary and middle school students through the Wakefield Academy. The town is also home to the Northeast Metropolitan Regional Vocational School, a four year public regional vocational high school from 12 communities North of Boston.

In addition to its outstanding school system, Wakefield boasts award-winning sports teams, tremendous theatrical and musical opportunities, and recreational activities and organizations for children.

What makes Wakefield so appealing to many is its close proximity to Boston and major highways (I-93, I-95, Route 128 and Route 1), as well as the two train stations that accommodate residents who take the commuter rail system into the city.

Equally as important to many are the town’s two lakes, Crystal Lake and Lake Quannapowitt, the latter drawing hundreds of walkers, bikers and joggers each day around its 3.5-mile circumference.

The Town of Wakefield is truly a family-oriented community with a rich history and traditional New England charm.
