Welcome to Cumberland, MD

Cumberland is the seat of Allegany County, one of the four counties that make up Western Maryland. This mountain city of close to 23,000 residents is considered a regional business center, attracting professionals and workers from not only the western part of Maryland but West Virginia as well. As a result, many job seekers choose to relocate to one of Cumberland four neighborhoods. These include the North End, the East Side, the West Side, and South Cumberland. Particularly popular is the East Side, which offers single-family homes wooded lots, several new residential developments, and the city’s scenic Constitution Park. Cumberland’s youths are served by the Allegany Public School System; the city is home to six elementary schools, two middle schools, and two high schools. This, in addition to the county’s five colleges and eight libraries, makes Cumberland an attractive option for families looking to relocate.
