The community of Germantown dates back to the 1800s, when it served as a business center for German immigrants. With the completion of I-270 in the 1960s, however, Germantown real estate experienced significant growth; it now boasts a population of close to 80,000. Many Germantown real estate owners are divided among the community’s established neighborhoods. But there are still plenty that are attracted to the residential units that make up the mixed-use space of the Germantown Town Center, situated along Century Boulevard.
Getting to – and around – Germantown is easy. The community is served by Metro’s red line, Montgomery County’s Ride On bus service, and the Germantown Transit Center bus service. But even though this accessibility is a major draw, it is really the county’s schools that account for the widespread appeal of Germantown real estate. The community is not only home to a broad selection of schools, including four middle schools and two high schools; it is also the location of the Germantown campus of Montgomery College.
With all that this community has to offer, including home prices that are slightly lower than the county average, it’s no surprise that Germantown real estate is in such high demand.
