Welcome to Sykesville, MD

Sykesville began in the early 1800s as a 3,000-acre parcel of land known as Springfield Estate. Today, the town is home to more than 36,500 Sykesville real estate owners. Yet its rich history is still evident in such landmarks as the Historic Sykesville Colored Schoolhouse and has been meticulously preserved over the years by the Sykesville Historic District Commission.

Sykesville is located in Carroll County, not far from the city of Baltimore. This allows Sykesville’s residents to enjoy the city’s many amenities, particularly the popular Inner Harbor. But Sykesville real estate owners also benefit from the ample outdoor recreational opportunities that are offered closer to home, at the town’s many parks and along the Patapsco River, which forms the border between Carroll County and neighboring Howard County. And during the warm summer months, the town boasts an apple butter market and a farmer’s market, featuring organic beef and locally grown fruits and vegetables.

With its charming and vibrant Main Street, its packed calendar of events, and its rich historic appeal, Sykesville real estate has become especially popular among families and retirees. And yet commuters also choose to relocate to Sykesville, thanks to its proximity to the job opportunities of nearby Baltimore.
