Welcome to Coopersville, MI

Coopersville has historically been a rural farming community, and was named for Benjamin F. Cooper, from Utica, New York, who settled here in 1845. He purchased 640 acres of land and built a sawmill. It is situated between the second largest city in Michigan, Grand Rapids to the east and Lake Michigan to the west. This ideal location combines rural community living, the cultural activities of Grand Rapids and the natural beauty of the lakeshore. Coopersville has managed to retain its charm and friendliness while at the same time accommodating healthy growth. The renovated Randall Street, downtown business district is functional as well as aesthetically pleasing. Continued growth includes an economy ranging from agricultural to high tech manufacturing, as well as service and retail businesses.

While many entertainment options are easily accessible in nearby communities, Coopersville plays host to a number of unique offerings as well. Attractions like the Coopersville Farm Museum, the Coopersville Area Historical Society Museum & Del Shannon Memorial, Coopersville & Marne Railway and the Coopersville Area Arts Council bring in visitors from around the state and beyond.

The Blue Ribbon Award Winning Coopersville Public School system along with several quality parochial schools in the area provide excellent educational options. Coopersville is centrally located near many higher education facilities as well, including Baker College, Hope College, Calvin College, Grand Valley State University, Michigan State University medical program in Grand Rapids and local community college programs both Muskegon and Grand Rapids.

Housing styles range from the established town area, to farm houses to new construction.
