Holt is located close to the political and economic hub of Michigan’s capital, Lansing, and the many cultural, social and educational offerings of a Big Ten University at Michigan State in East Lansing.. In recent years, Holt Public Schools have grown significantly in enrollment and facilities. Student enrollment is nearly 6,000, with 3 National Merit Finalists and Average ACT Scores of 21. The district boasts a newer 60 million dollar senior high school with state-of-the-art facilities for classroom instruction, technology, fine arts and physical education. There are six elementary schools, two grades 5-6 buildings, a junior high and a grade 9 building serving Holt-Dimondale residents.

In conjunction with Michigan State University, Holt High School was the first Professional Development School in the state and has a history of offering innovative instruction and educational programs. Holt Public Schools is recognized as a state-wide leader in education, earning national and state awards at all levels. Holt High School was named a National Blue Ribbon School, one of the top 100 schools in the nation.

Holt is neither a city nor a village but rather an unincorporated community in the Charter Township of Delhi. Delhi Township is often referred to as Holt. The community of approximately 12,000 lies just southeast of Lansing. Its central location and easy access to major highways make all area services and attractions very accessible including Michigan State University, medical centers, and entertainment options.
