Creve Coeur, MO is a thriving, centrally located community - west of University City and north of Ladue. Incorporated in 1949, Creve Coeur developed along Olive Street Road, a route originally thought to be an Indian trail connecting the Mississippi to Missouri Rivers. According to legend, the name (“broken heart” in French) comes from Creve Coeur Lake. An Indian princess fell in love with a French fur trapper, but when the love was not returned, she leapt from a ledge overlooking the lake and the lake transformed itself into a broken heart. Creve Coeur is home to 2 private colleges, 5 private schools and 2 public school districts (Ladue and Parkway).
