Old Rag Mountain offers one of the most popular hikes in the mid-Atlantic region. The eight mile hike takes you up 2500 square feet, through rock scrambles and takes about 5.5 hours to complete. However, the reward is great: spectacular Blue Ridge views at the summit. Whether in the Shenandoah National Park or out, Madison offers a number of outdoor activities to satisfy any level of skill.
Madison County is also home to Plow and Hearth, one of the biggest catalog retailers in the country. Their catalog center, retail store and outlet shop can be found in the southern part of the county and are known to be a shopper’s delight!
