Welcome to Manhattan Kansas in the heart of the Flint Hills. Our city is a young and vibrant community and is the home of Kansas State University, American Institute of Baking, USDA Grain Marketing Center, Manhattan Christian College and a neighbor of Fort Riley, home of the Big Red One. Beautiful Tuttle Creek Lake is a large reservoir that provides sailing, boating, and fishing. The city is in a beautiful setting of rolling hills and at the juncture of two rivers, the Kansas and Blue.
Manhattan is an art center whether it is the visual arts with museums and galleries or the performing arts with a number of theaters. Manhattan is also home to the one of the largest. Country music festivals in the Midwest the Country Stampede. Manhattan hosts the London Lecture Series. The series has included lectures by the late senators Roberts F. Kennedy, Edward Kennedy, President Nixon, Carter, Reagan, Bush and Clinton and more recent US Secretary of Defense Robert Gates and General David Petraeus.
Kansas State University plays a very large part in the community. It has a prestigious reputation of research, teaching and scholarships. Along with being part of the NCAA Division 1 Big 12 conference, KSU football with its dynamic legacy with coach Bill Snyder. Great baseball and fine basketball programs for men and women. K-state athletics is wonderful entertainment for the avid sports sectors. If you are looking for golf we have four courses including the world class Colbert Hills.
