Manhattan Beach provides two miles of pure sand and Pacific surf for swimmers, surfers, volleyball players and sunbathers who take advantage of the good weather. Restaurants that offer superb food, offices, fitness centers and retail can be found along the Rosecrans corridor. After World War II a great influx of people came here as a result of the popularity of the area for year-round living. The expansion of the defense industry brought many people to the South Bay to live and work. Much of the land east of Sepulveda was developed to house the influx of people.
