Medford, Oregon - A Taste Of Italy In Southern Oregon

Founded in 1885 as a regional stop for the railroad that ran between Portland and California, Medford, Oregon has grown from a small timber town with unpaved roads to the largest city in the Southern Oregon area with prime real estate opportunities. In more recent years, the city of Medford has continued to flourish with a current population of over 68,000 and a thriving regional trade center with expanding economic development, increasing tourism, and an abundance of recreational activities.

Medford has a unique relationship with its European sister city Alba, Italy because of the similarities between the two cities. The relationship between Medford and Alba started in 1960 when representatives from both areas formed deep friendships that resulted in the founding of the Medford Alba Sister City Association. The organization encourages exchange between the two cities and provides an exciting way for residents and business leaders to expand their cultural, civic, and economic horizons.

Medford offers a plethora of activities, history, and culture. It is located 273 miles south of Portland, Oregon, and 27 miles north of the California border. It's a popular destination for retirees, vacation homes, and those who simply enjoy the low rainfall, warm summers, and moderate winters.
