Merritt Island is located in Brevard County on Florida’s Space Coast. Positioned between the Indian River and Banana River, Merritt Island with its favorable climate encourages outdoor activity of all kinds, offering many parks and recreational areas. The north end of the island offers Merritt Islands National Wildlife Refuge and NASA’s John F. Kennedy’s Space Center. The Refuge is managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and provides a buffer zone for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

The National Wildlife Refuge has much to offer the nature lover with tours offered you will have the opportunity to see the American Bald Eagle, alligators, manatees, bobcats, and more. There are nature trails where you will see nature at its best viewing wildflowers, shrubs, ferns and trees.

Visiting NASA's Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex is a lifetime experience you will want to share with your children. “NASA's launch headquarters is the only place on Earth where you can tour launch areas, meet a veteran astronaut, see giant rockets, train in spaceflight simulators, and even view a launch.”

With the many parks located on Merritt Island you will be able to enjoy, biking, fishing, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, boating, exercise trails, athletic facilities, tennis, and racquet ball courts, a 335’ boardwalk along the Banana River waterfront and a Veterans Memorial Museum.

So making your home on Merritt Island is a gift to yourself. For your daily living there are shopping malls, restaurants, entertainment and what better way to view historic launches than from your own home. You will be within 10 min to beaches (including famous Cocoa Beach) and 45 min to most Orlando attractions and within 30 minutes to an international airport.
