Welcome to Milton, DE

The charming town of Milton is located just north of Rehoboth and Lewes in Sussex County, at the head of the Broadkill River. It was originally settled in 1672, and soon became a thriving shipbuilding village. At one point, Milton even laid claim to the title of “Holly Capital of the World” for its unmatched production of wreaths made from Delaware’s state tree, the American Holly. Today, this quaint community is home to a collection of thriving businesses and an active historical preservation society, which has overseen the restoration of many of the town’s Colonial and Victorian houses.

Milton’s safe streets, pedestrian-friendly layout, and cleanliness are all part of what makes this town so popular among seniors and families. Outdoor enthusiasts, meanwhile, appreciate the proximity of both the Delaware Bay and the Broadkill River, which offers kayaking, boating, fishing, and bird watching. And because Milton real estate is a short drive from such large cities as Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, and Baltimore, many Milton real estate owners refer to the town as “their second home near the sea shore.”
