Decades ago the city founding fathers made a commitment to preserve the natural lakes and park land which are some of the most picturesque views to be found anywhere. Communities throughout the metro area dedicate a minimum of 10% of the land in planned neighborhoods to parks, biking & hiking trails, nature preserve out lots and tot play grounds. A master trail for biking and hiking connects hundreds of miles of groomed nature trails with planned community park land. It is an intricate part of the environment we live in. After all Minnesota is the land of 10,000 lakes. We have found a way to bring that beauty home to those who live here throughout all the seasons (winter, spring, summer and fall).

University of Minnesota plus 26 colleges and universities, 74 art galleries (including 13 fine art museums and institutes), 693 indoor/outdoor tennis court areas, 1,763 beaches and pools, 137 bowling alleys, 87 golf courses, the largest concentration of turn of the century Victorian homes in the country at Ramsey Hill in St. Paul (every one should experience viewing one of the neighborhoods candle light fall evening tours), the Minneapolis Artist Walk A Thon (over 500 artists open there studios to the public in a week end open house), the Minneapolis Summer Aquatennial featuring parades, milk carton boat races, fishing contests and week long festivities, the St. Paul Winter Carnival featuring ice and snow carving, winter parades, treasure hunts, week long events that end with King Boreous chasing away the winter, the world’s second largest State Fair (a great Minnesota get together), a fall Renaissance and dozens of annual festivals. You sure can not say there is no variety or very little to do for entertainment.
