About Morgantown, West Virginia

Morgantown, WV was named the nation’s # 1 small city in 2004 by The New Rating Guide of Life in America’s Small Cities. It remains such an attraction with public and private facilities and services at a premier level.

As a part of Morgantown’s enduring charm is the beautiful Monongahela River winding around the perimeter of the city.

Morgantown is the home to West Virginia University, the flagship institution of higher education on our state that offers fine programs in a multitude of disciplines. Moreover, it is a tower of strength in terms of cultural events, academic special events and sports activities. On home football Saturdays in the fall, Morgan becomes West Virginia’s largest city for several hours.

Recently it has been indentified by NBC News and other media as one of the bright and shining lights in a “down economy.” It has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the nation.
